The well-known and highly effective insect repellent diethyl toluamide (DEET) is mainly used for travel to the tropics. But also essential oils have a repellent effect.
Repellents containing DEET are available in form of sprays and lotions for the skin and face. Sprays with higher concentrations are available for impregnation of clothing. We carry the NOBITE range, recommended by the tropics institute Vienna. Used over extended periods of time, repellents containing DEET can cause dry skin and itches - therefore insect repellents based on essential oils should be used for children and pregnant women. Frequently used oils are citronella, clove, eucalyptus, lavender, cinnamon, cedar and citrus.
